Privacy Policy

Learn how we protect and manage your data when using our voice cloning service

1Introduction

This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our voice cloning service, accessible to both teachers and students. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws.

2Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information from users (teachers and students):

  • Personal Information: User ID (via Clerk authentication) to associate voice samples and generated speech with your account.

  • Voice Data: Audio samples uploaded or recorded through our service for voice cloning purposes.

  • Text Input: Text submitted for conversion to speech.

  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our service, such as timestamps and generated audio files.

3How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

  • Generate cloned voice audio based on your provided voice samples and text input, enabling personalized speech for educational purposes.

  • Store voice samples and generated audio for future use, allowing teachers to create consistent instructional content and students to access personalized learning materials.

  • Improve our service by analyzing usage patterns (anonymized and aggregated).

4Voice Data Handling

For both teachers and students:

  • Voice samples are stored securely and used solely for generating cloned voices as per your requests.

  • Teachers may use voice cloning to create educational content, such as narrated lessons or feedback.

  • Students may use voice cloning for personalized learning experiences, such as hearing their own voice in study materials.

  • You can delete your voice samples and generated audio at any time via the history tab in the voice cloning interface.

5Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption of voice samples and generated audio. Data is stored on secure servers and accessible only to authorized personnel. Teachers' and students' data are treated with equal care to ensure privacy.

6Data Sharing

We do not share your personal information or voice data with third parties, except:

  • With your explicit consent (e.g., if a teacher shares generated audio with students for educational purposes).

  • To comply with legal obligations or protect the rights and safety of our users.

7Your Rights

Teachers and students have the right to:

  • Access and review your stored voice samples and generated audio.

  • Request deletion of your data via the service interface.

  • Contact us at solutions@nia-gen.org for data-related inquiries.

8Children's Privacy

Our service may be used by students under 18 with parental consent. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that student use complies with applicable laws, such as COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). We do not knowingly collect data from users under 13 without parental consent.

9Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Users will be notified via email or through the service interface. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
